JONESBORO, Ark. – The UT Arlington volleyball team picked up a much needed Sun Belt Conference win, defeating Arkansas State 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 4).
With the win, the Mavericks stay in second place in the West Division and improve to 15-10 overall and 9-6 in Sun Belt action, while the Red Wolves drop to 16-11 on the season and 8-6 in league play.
"It was a great team effort today," said head coach JT Wenger. "We had excellent offensive production, and our setters' distribution allowed for a stellar team efficiency. Our game plan was spot on, and we executed at a high level."
Zhanelle Geathers led all hitters with a match-high 11 kills to go with four blocks, a pair of digs and a .500 hitting percentage.
Petra Manderson finished with eight kills and seven digs.
Madison Hill tallied seven kills, five digs and three blocks, while
Kylie Jedlicka recorded seven kills and 10 digs.
Alex Janak led the Mavs in assists (23) and just missed a double-double with nine digs.
The Mavericks will return to College Park Center next weekend when they host Sun Belt leader Texas State (23-6, 14-1 SBC) in their SBC regular season finale on Friday, Nov. 9. Friday night's matchup, which will also be Senior Day for the Mavs, is set for a 6:30 p.m. first serve.
