SAN ANTONIO - A double-digit kill performance by
Madison Hill lifted UT Arlington to its second sweep in a row, topping Incarnate Word 3-0 on Friday night at the McDermott Center.
UTA, winners of four matches in a row, pushed above .500 in the win column in topping the Southland Conference foe. The win improved UTA to a 2-0 all-time series lead over the Cardinals in the first of back-to-back weeks against SLC opponents. The Mavericks (4-3) return to College Park Center to host the Maverick Invitational against Sam Houston State, Belmont and Grand Canyon on Sept. 14-15.
Hill, a junior from Rockwall, Texas, knocked down her third double-digit performance in the kill column in the last four matches. The reigning SBC Offensive Player of the Week was the lone Mav in double figures as she had 10 kills on 21 attempts for a .429 attack percentage. She was equally impressive on the defensive side with six total blocks (five assisted).
After being able to command much of the first and second sets, the third proved a bit more challenging with UIW racing out to an early lead. The Cardinals (0-7) led 20-17 with the Mavs taking a late timeout to try to calm their play. UTA picked up the answer it needed by taking four of the next five points, forcing a timeout at match point and clinching the match with an ace by
Kylee Kapp, the team's fourth of the match.
ON THE COURT LEADERS
Along with Hill, the Mavs had a solid night on offense, hitting .198 overall with

Bre Walp finished with a .417 attack percentage with seven kills on just two errors.
Alex Janak was just a dig shy of her fourth double-double with nine digs to go with a team-high 18 sets. Janak finished with a team-high two aces.
