Mavericks Impress at North Texas Classic

DENTON, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team put together an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon as many tremendous performances highlighted the North Texas Classic at the UNT Track and Field Stadium.

"Another day where our pool of outstanding performers continued to grow," said Head Coach John Sauerhage. "We're excited and looking forward to continuing this pace at our next meet."

The women's side put together another outstanding day as Tatyana Terrell highlighted a big day, including a win in the 200 meter dash, smashing her previous PR as she crossed at 23.08. Terrell also joined the 4x100 team along with Mikeya Washington, Iyana Gray, and Vanessa Ugorji as they raced to a first place finish of 45.20.

Gray continued her tremendous season with a win in the 100 meter dash, dusting the competition for a time of 11.44, just .01 off her PR. UTA has six athletes finish in the top 10 including a third place finish from Adeyemi Talabi at 11.77, a fourth place finish from Madison Pippins at 11.88, and a fifth place finish by Washington at 11.90.

Madeleine Rowe won the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:17.51, while Tynecia Singletary rolled in the 400 meter at 57.25, a new PR.

On the men's side, All-American Bryson DeBerry got the day started with a win in the high jump at 2.10 meters, while Marvin Walford claimed gold in the long jump, soaring past his PR at 15.36 meters. Randon Gray hit a huge mark in the pole vault at 4.90 to finish second on the day.

Nolan Walker cruised to victory in the 110 meter hurdles with a new PR of 14.34, while Jarvis Miles set a new PR in the 200 meter dash at 20.76.

Jackson Cichon won the 800 meter at 1:55.50, while Dylan Lowe was third at 1:58.72. Cichon and Lowe joined Khalid Mendez and Davontay Kennedy to place second in the 4x400 at 3:26.10. The 4x100 team of Miles, Kennedy, Mendez, and Robert Griffin placed second with a time of 40.59.
