DENTON, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field team put together an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon as many tremendous performances highlighted the North Texas Classic at the UNT Track and Field Stadium.
"Another day where our pool of outstanding performers continued to grow," said Head Coach
John Sauerhage. "We're excited and looking forward to continuing this pace at our next meet."
The women's side put together another outstanding day as
Tatyana Terrell highlighted a big day, including a win in the 200 meter dash, smashing her previous PR as she crossed at 23.08. Terrell also joined the 4x100 team along with
Mikeya Washington,
Iyana Gray, and
Vanessa Ugorji as they raced to a first place finish of 45.20.
Gray continued her tremendous season with a win in the 100 meter dash, dusting the competition for a time of 11.44, just .01 off her PR. UTA has six athletes finish in the top 10 including a third place finish from
Adeyemi Talabi at 11.77, a fourth place finish from
Madison Pippins at 11.88, and a fifth place finish by Washington at 11.90.
Krystal Igbo and
Shelby West picked up where they left off a week ago as they set new PRs in the 100 meter hurdles for the second straight week. Igbo came in with a time of 13.98, while West crossed at 14.04. West also earned a 59.31 in the 400 meter hurdles.
Madeleine Rowe won the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:17.51, while
Tynecia Singletary rolled in the 400 meter at 57.25, a new PR.
On the men's side, All-American
Bryson DeBerry got the day started with a win in the high jump at 2.10 meters, while
Marvin Walford claimed gold in the long jump, soaring past his PR at 15.36 meters.
Randon Gray hit a huge mark in the pole vault at 4.90 to finish second on the day.
Nolan Walker cruised to victory in the 110 meter hurdles with a new PR of 14.34, while
Jarvis Miles set a new PR in the 200 meter dash at 20.76.
Jackson Cichon won the 800 meter at 1:55.50, while
Dylan Lowe was third at 1:58.72. Cichon and Lowe joined
Khalid Mendez and Davontay Kennedy to place second in the 4x400 at 3:26.10. The 4x100 team of Miles, Kennedy, Mendez, and
Robert Griffin placed second with a time of 40.59.
Jade Bontke and
Lucas Van Klaveren will head to the Mt. SAC Relay in California this upcoming week. The rest of the team will return to action on April 22 and 23 for the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco.
