ARLINGTON, Texas– Head coach
J.T. Wenger officially added to his high school recruiting class for the upcoming season with the signing of Southlake Carroll High School's Samantha Glenn. She joins the November signings of Alexis Bull and Evyn Snook as well as the previously announced
transfer addition of Charleston Southern's Paige Reagor.
"We are really looking forward to bringing these fantastic student-athletes into our program, as they embody the characteristics that we strive for in recruiting - dedicated athletes that thrive in competitive environments, while also being academically driven," Wenger said.
Alex Bull
6-2 Middle Blocker/Right Side
Magnolia, Texas/ Magnolia HS
Bull joins the Mavericks as a four-year member of the AVCA Phenom Watchlist. During her time at Magnolia High School, she collected several awards for her in-season play including 2021 Defensive MVP, 2020 VYPE All-Houston team, 2020 All-Montgomery County First Team, 2020 District 13-6A Blocker Of The Year, 2020 Academic All-District 13-6A, 2019 District 15-6A, All-District Honorable Mention 2019, and 2022 District 19-5A offensive player of the year. During her time at Magnolia, she collected 878 kills, 280 blocks and 123 Aces.
"Alex has a physical presence and versatility that will complement our program very well," Wenger said. "She is very competitive, which will fit in well with our gym culture."
Bull also shined academically, becoming a three-time member of the Academic All-District team. She also was a member of the 2022 Academic All-State team and 2019 Honor Roll.
Bull played club volleyball for Houston Skyline and was a silver medalist at the Lone Star Qualifier and the Far Western Qualifier Silver in 2022. She also qualified for the GCVA Beach Nationals Qualifier in 2019 and 2020.
Samantha Glenn
5-8 Outside Hitter
Grapevine, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS
While Glenn prepped at Southlake Carroll, she was a USAV nationals all-tournament team selection as her team placed third overall in the 18's division, and she competed for the Madfrog Volleyball Club. For Southlake Carroll, she was named to the Northwest ISD all-tournament team as a senior.
"We are so excited to add Sam to the program," Wenger said. "She is a fiery competitor who can pass and attack at a high level, and she's another potent weapon in the arsenal that makes up our talented 2023 class."
Samantha is the daughter of the late Terry Glenn, who went from a walk-on to starring as a wide receiver at The Ohio State University before playing in the NFL with the Patriots, Packers and Cowboys.
Evyn Snook
6-2 Outside Hitter
Magnolia, Texas/ Magnolia West HS
Snook, who racked up over 1,300 kills and 1,000 digs in her high school career, comes to UTA as a three-time District 19-5A First Team All-District (2019-21) selection. She was also a First Team All-Montgomery County member in 2019.
"Evyn brings a volleyball savvy that is rare for a student athlete entering the college ranks," Wenger said. "She has great vision of the court as an attacker and has a varied shot selection that will score points by keeping defenders guessing."
She was a three-time member of the National Honor Society as well as a member of the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Program in 2021. Snook participated in the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy, and she picked up a District 19-5A Academic All-District accolade in 2021, as well.
As a player for the Texas Tornados Volleyball Club, Snook earned a spot on the FROSH 59 Highest Honorable Mention list in 2019. She was a member of the Class of 2023 Club Watch list and a two-time member of the Lone Star Preps Top Hitters of 2023 list. She joined the Under Armour All-America Selection Camp and was a member of the GHVCA 2022 Pre-Season Team.
