LUBBOCK, Texas – The final day of the Texas Tech Open & Multis concluded, and the UT Arlington track & field team had several athletes set new PRs throughout the day as well as a few top 15 finishes.
Freshman
Calen Jones competed in the B section of the men's high jump, finishing 3rd with a mark of 2.10m, 6-10¾. This sets a new PR for Jones and puts him in a tie for the top spot in the WAC standings.
Lauren Walls-Portillo finished 6th in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:15.90, nearly breaking her PR. With the performance, it moves Walls-Portillo in to the top 5 of the WAC leaderboards, sitting in 3rd overall.
Malaiya Jedkins set a new PR in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.16m, 39-10¾. She finished 11th in the event and the mark moves the senior to 4th in the WAC standings.
Among the other UTA top performers and/or personal bests set on Saturday:
- Alfredo Corona finished 7th in the men's 1 mile run with a time of 4:21.09.
- Jackson Cichon finished 9th in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:53.15.
- Mathilde Ruud finished 14th in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:21.56.
- Adeyemi Talabi set a new indoor PR in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.55.
- Jade Bontke set a new indoor PR in the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.58.
- Mikeya Washington set a new PR in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.44.
- Khalid Mendez finished 14th in the men's 200m dash, setting a new PR with a time of 21.40.
- Nolan Walker set a new PR in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.62.
- Jayden Blakey set a new PR in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.64.
- Marvin Walford finished 13th in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.17m, 46-6.
- Erlend Raa finished 13th in the B section of the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00m, 6-6¾.
