ARLINGTON, TEXAS --- Mollie Blank and Alli Wells have each been selected to the Academic All-District Volleyball team, selected by the College Sports Communicators.
Â
In doing so, the duo joins Melissa Marek, who made the team three consecutive years from 2003-05, as the only Mavs since 2001 to achieve the honor.
Â
Furthermore, Blank and Wells were both selected for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 9.
Â
Blank, a fourth-year University studies major, has compiled a 3.76 cumulative undergraduate GPA. In 32 matches as a setter this season, she produced a career-high 1,083 assists, 223 digs, 56 kills, 28 blocks and 20 aces. She tacked on eight double-doubles and closed the season strong, averaging over 40 assists and almost eight digs per match over the final 14 outings.
Â
The Mansfield, Texas native was also named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Setter of the Week three times this year.
Â
Away from the court, Blank is a three-time academic all-conference selection, and she has volunteered at the Mav Move-In, UTA Canned Food Drive, UTA Shoe Drive, Ladies Night Out Dinner and Toiletry Drive. She also helped with the Prevention of Substance Misuse Education Program.
Â
Similar to Blank, Wells compiled a 3.76 undergraduate cumulative GPA as a public health major, and she has produced a 4.00 graduate GPA as a health care administration major.

The fifth-year libero totaled 460 digs, 123 assists, 19 aces and three kills this past season en route to becoming UTA's all-time career digs leader with 2,092, which also places her ninth among active NCAA Division I players. She totaled 104 career matches with double-digit digs, including a UTA single-match record 45 on Nov. 6, 2020.
Â
Away from the court, the Waxahachie, Texas native is a four-time academic all-conference selection.
