Biography

Prior to UTA: Earned all-conference honors as a middle infielder at Navarro Junior College...hit .385 with four home runs, 15 doubles, three triples and 35 RBI as a sophomore...was an all-conference selection as a freshman after hitting .353 with 12 doubles, three triples and 26 RBI...named the District 5-5A MVP his senior year at Colleyville Heritage HS...was also named all-area and all-state as a senior after hitting .452 with two home runs, 20 doubles, four triples and 30 RBI...earned first team all-district laurels all three years on varsity...named defensive player of the year as a junior...finished his high school career with seven home runs, 43 doubles, seven triples and 62 runs batted in.

Personal: Son of Patricia and Randall Avants...born Sept. 26, 1982...a communications/business management major at UTA.
